Life with an almost 2 year old....

As many of you know, Lilly is coming up on her 2nd birthday (April 4) in a few weeks and I am wondering where those two years have gone. I remember the day (early morning) Lilly came into the world. Our little bug decided not to come on her due date (March 27) so I was induced in the early afternoon on the 3rd of April. (I was hoping that she'd come on the 2nd so that she could share a birthday with me and my mom.)

I remember the night before my scheduled induction not being able to sleep. I felt like a little kid waiting for Christmas morning to arrive. After I was induced, I chickened out early and got the epidural after a few contractions. 15 hours later (with the amazing help of some women in my family-sorry again to those that I ended up vomiting on!) Lilly was here. By that time I was so tired that when the nurse tried to get me to hold her I didn't want to, so Jesse held her. It was so amazing to me to see Jesse step immediately into the role of "daddy". From that moment on she's had both of us wrapped around her finger. She is one of the greatest blessings in my life and I feel honored that I get to help raise her and teach her how to live her life worthily.


For those of you that don't know, we chose the name Lillian because of Jesse's love for Harry Potter. I really wanted to name her Madison*, but Jesse thought it was too popular of a name. Preya is my middle name and the name I was given in India-which means "dear one". Once we found out that we were having a girl, I think it only took us a few days to choose the name and I'm glad we chose that name because I can't picture her with any other name.


Lilly has definetly hit the unfortunate "Terrible Two's" lately. She is such a sweetheart, but she sure knows how to throw a mean tantrum when she doesn't get what she wants. Somewhere she learned that if she wanted something from me and I told her no, she could go to Jesse and ask him instead. Luckily it didn't take us too long to catch on to what she was doing and we're now working on teaching her that is a BIG "no" in our house. Recently we woke up find her in her crib naked and diaper-less with a nice "surprise" for me to clean up . Looks like I have a fun summer of potty training ahead of me!!!

Alright, now I'll get to some of the cute things she does. Lilly loves to sing. She even tries to sing the hymns during Sacrament Meeting. Her favorite song is "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star". I've been singing that one to her since the first night at home with her. She loves to color and I've recently started teaching her about all the different colors. She definetly knows what pink is because she associates that color with princesses. We're trying to teach her that at a stop light, the color green means go and the color red means stop. She yells at us to "go" every time we're stopped at a light.

She is a talker. Once she spends a few minutes with you she'll start talking (mostly gibberish) your ear off. I have my few minutes each day with her to go over words she either already says or doesn't and teach her the correct way to pronounce them. Right now the focus is on the way she says "kiss", it rhymes with kiss but starts with a "p". As much as I think little kid talk is cute, I really don't have the desire to be at church or out in public and have her say in her words "kiss me".

I will put an end to my love fest here and tell my Lilly-beaner that I love her and I hope she knows how happy she makes her mommy and daddy. It's a new experience every day with her, but it's always a fun one.





*I still love the name Madison and if we have another girl someday, I will beg and plead with Jesse to let me name her that!!!!
